This grant is available to enable the purchase of a desktop, laptop or tablet computer.  The computers/tablets are purchased by the Baily Thomas Provident Fund.

Applications will be considered by the trustees in the following circumstances:

  • one grant per household of up to £500
  • subsequent applications can be made after a minimum of 5 years has lapsed from receipt of previous computer. Grants for replacement computers are also capped at £500.
  • the computer is intended to be for the sole use of the beneficiary and immediate family.

Guidance notes for applicants

Applicants can supplement the grant with their own funds to purchase a computer worth more than the maximum grant available if they wish.  How to do this will be advised prior to BTPF purchasing the computer/tablet.

If you wish to obtain a specific tablet, laptop or desktop please provide the make, model number, and cost of the equipment on the application form.  If we are unable to purchase the requested equipment we will discuss this with you.

Otherwise, the computer will be purchased by BTPF and will be the best specification available for the grant amount.

The grant is not available to purchase mobile phones, smart watches or any equipment which has a primary purpose of making and/or receiving telephone calls or emails.

Applicants should be aware that computer grants are awarded at the discretion of the trustees.

Process on receipt of a grant application

You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your application normally within one week of receipt.

Applications are sent to the trustees on a weekly basis and a response is usually provided within approximately two/three weeks although you should be aware that at times it may take longer.

Confirmation, in writing, of the outcome of your application, will be sent as soon as a decision is given by the Trustees.
