At the Baily Thomas Provident Fund, we understand the importance of good hearing for everyday life. The hearing aid grant is designed to help those who face long wait times on the NHS or who find that the model provided by the NHS is unsuitable for their needs (non-cosmetic reasons only).
The grant is available once every four years and the trustees will consider funding up to £3,000 per pair of hearing aids. If your circumstances change within the four-year period e.g. a change in prescription, the trustees may consider a new application.
Who can apply?
To be eligible to apply for the hearing aid grant, you must have:
- Visited your NHS GP and requested a referral to NHS audiology and be able to evidence a long wait
or
- Obtained hearing aids through NHS audiology and be able to demonstrate that the aids provided by the NHS are unsuitable for your needs
- You will also need to have undergone a hearing aid test, a copy of which should be submitted with your application

Discretion of the trustee
Please note that all grants are awarded at the discretion of the trustees. The trustees will carefully consider your application based on the information you provide.
Please ensure a grant is in place and approved before any purchases are made. The trustees are unlikely to pay a retrospective claim unless there were exceptional circumstances meaning it would have been difficult to submit a grant application in advance.
