At the Baily Thomas Provident Fund we are committed to supporting individuals with neurodiverse conditions. We understand that long wait times for an assessment can create barriers to timely support and we recognise the importance of having an assessment in place.

A formal diagnosis can not only open the door to additional support and resources, but it can also provide much-needed clarity and understanding.

The neurodiversity grant is designed to help beneficiaries gain access to assessments quickly, ensuring they can move forward with the right support.

The neurodiversity grant is available to beneficiaries who require a private assessment for conditions such as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

The Baily Thomas Provident Fund will consider funding private assessments in full for eligible beneficiaries.

Who can apply?

The neurodiversity grant is available to beneficiaries who are facing long wait times for assessment or who require an assessment that is not currently covered under the NHS such as Dyslexia.

In the case of ADHD and ASD assessments, it’s important you check that your NHS GP will accept a private diagnosis with your chosen provider before applying for a grant.

How to apply

To apply for the neurodiversity grant, beneficiaries should download and complete the application form and submit it with the following:

  • A copy of your referral from the NHS (if applicable)
  • Evidence of long wait times (if applicable)
  • Proof that the assessment is required (if not offered under the NHS)
  • GP confirmation that they will accept a private diagnosis (for ADHD and ASD)

Discretion of the trustee

Please note that all grants are awarded at the discretion of the trustees. The trustees will carefully consider your application based on the information you provide.

Please ensure a grant is in place and approved before any purchases are made. The trustees are unlikely to pay a retrospective claim unless there were exceptional circumstances meaning it would have been difficult to submit a grant application in advance.
